Relevé Communications Founder and Principal Jacqueline Avial's communications career has centered around a key theme: people-centered storytelling.

Whether covering the 2007-08 global financial crisis from Washington, D.C., reporting on legal battles in federal bankruptcy court, profiling legal and financial movers and shakers, developing a robust content strategy to promote an innovative liberal arts college or celebrating the contributions of diverse philanthropists, Jackie takes pride in earning people’s trust in order to authentically tell their stories.

A journalist at heart, Jackie began her career as The New York Times' inaugural David E. Rosenbaum reporting fellow and went on to serve as reporter, editor and deputy bureau chief for The Wall Street Journal's Pro Bankruptcy team for nearly a decade.

In the past six years, she has helped develop, execute and lead comprehensive marketing and fundraising communications strategies for an institution of higher education and a community foundation in Milwaukee. She continues to engage in professional development, earning a Nonprofit Management certificate from Alverno College and a Grant Writing Skills certificate from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Jackie earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and political science from Marquette University and is proud to give back to her alma mater as a longtime mentor for Marquette's alumni mentoring program. She also serves as a co-leader for her daughter’s Girl Scout troop and is an avid reader, traveler, dancer and coffee drinker.

Why relevé?

"Personally, I credit dance with being an incredibly formative experience in my life, especially when it comes to building confidence and discipline. Dance is another powerful form of storytelling, and the dancer's motion of rising on their toes, often with arms outstretched, evokes the idea of reaching for something incredible. That is what Relevé Communications is all about -- partnering with organizations to tell a compelling story while striving to achieve an ambitious and impactful mission."
